My daughter's 94 Explorer's fuel gauge has read full since the day she got it. I figured it was a sending unit problem, so when the fuel pump died I decided to replace the whole unit. Removed the backseat and cut the floor since it had fuel in it. Anyway, I replaced the whole shebang and the fuel gauge still reads full. Kind of took the wind out of my sails and unsure how to proceed. The tank has SOME fuel in it, but it's definitely not full. The gauge reads above full when the key is on. Turn it off and the needle drops some. As soon as you turn the key on, it goes right back up above full. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
