    Rear diff on 1995 explorer?

Quick question whats the proper name for that small shock absorber thats mounted near the rear differential? Its like a vibration dampener i think but i could be wrong. Mine is old and has never been changed and its leaking fluid. Thanks for any input.

If you're more of a sporty driver replace it if you're more off road or simply don't care, take it off. Some say it was a stabilizer, some say it's for pinion position as both shocks mount to rear side of axle as opposed to one front, one rear like many trucks.
