Your 4.0l SOHC does not have a synchro. The 4.0l OHV version would have one but I don't think they were still installing them in 2007. If it is the OHV version, then look where the distributor would have been.
07 4.0L Camshaft Position Synchronizer
Does anyone know where the camshaft position synchronizer is located on the 4.0L SOHC engine for a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer?
I know where the camshaft position sensor is located, but I believe that my camshaft position synchronizer bearing is going on me. Unless this model uses something different. The sensor location is in a different place from older models with a similar engine. Did Ford change the design and it uses something different?
