Had to bring my 2017 Ford Explorer XLT with only 7000 miles because the transmission was giving me problems. It was slipping and grinding. They checked it out and they said it was an internal bearing that was bad.

Got an update. They said it was the tourque convertor that was bad. It was causing all the slipping and surging. Go figure. I researched this problem and found out it's rare. Just my luck...LOL

My 2017 torque converter also failed at 67K miles. This is a common problem for the Ford MoCo Eco engine. A recall was put out for the Edge and other vehicles but nor the Explorer. It seems that the welds to the flex plate are breaking. They need to expand the recall to cover Explorer issues.
