Hi,
Can you all tell me what the explorer sport tire size can be changed to after doing a 2.5 level in the front and 1.25 in the rear. Can I move to a 275 50r20 or is a bigger size possible. My local mechanic indicated because of the electronic transmission, I might not go above a inch bigger than stock size? thanks.

255/50x20 is 30"
275/50x20 is 30.8.

From that, I'd say you could go bigger. 255/55x20 is 31". Maybe a 32" would be OK.

Well I went a different way. Bought a set of 17x9 pro comp 05 wheels, same bolt pattern as the jeep TJ and putting on a set of 265 70 17 MasterCraft courser A/T 2. Along with the levelling kit. Provides more sidewall.

265/70x17 is what my Ram had. They're only slightly bigger than what you started with.

Cut out some of the wheel well. I haven’t done it in an Explorer, but I’ve done it to other trucks. Get creative and plastic weld the cutout areas. If it’s what you’re looking for, go for it!
