Hey there! My wife just bought a used 2016 Ford Explorer XLT (60,000 miles). I wanted to inquire about 2 distinct issues.

1. In the rear cargo area, there is a storage cubby on the right-hand side (if you are standing outside behind the vehicle) that looks like it would have a cover. This vehicle is missing it. How do I go about replacing it?

2. We hear something that sounds sort of like something is rubbing. As you speed up the sound speeds up and intensifies. When you slow down, the noise does the same. It doesn't sound like it is related to the engine, and doesn't do it when in neutral & revving or when idling at red lights, only when moving. Thoughts?

Seems like a pretty solid vehicle otherwise!

Hi Rupard44,
I have a 15 XLT and 19 Limited and they both have a cover. Just go to a Ford dealer parts dept and they van look up the part # and print it off for you. Might be tough to find after market. Or try a junkyard, if they still exist.

"Rubbing" sound could be CV joint, out-of-round tire, brake caliper, on and on. Try putting it in neutral and just let it roll. Try to drive near a wall so maybe the sound can be reflected back.
