2015 Explorer Sport
Purchased brand new in July, 2015
Currently 20,000 miles. Up to two weeks ago no problems.
First issue: Fuel pump driver module went east (broke).
Second issue: Fuel pump went out.
Both times had to have vehicle towed back to the dealer. If anyone ever experienced this you know the engine shuts off and you are in trouble.
Up to this point the only thing I heard Ford was having trouble with was the "electric throttle body" which I have not had trouble with.
I upgraded to the 2015 Sport from a 2011 Ford Explorer Limited which was great. Yes I am a BIG Ford fan. Anyone have/heard of these issues?
Many thanks in advance. Big Al

Fuel Pump Related Issues

I also have a 2015 Sport. ~22k miles. About three months ago, first time it died and the fuel pump was replaced, second time they claimed the battery was not charged properly , third time the driver module was replaced, fourth time they replaced the fuel pump again. Fifth time now and they have no clue. Ford engineers are supposedly working it (5 failures to get to that point?). The symptom as you stated - car starts, maybe drives tiny bit and then dies and doesn't start again. Ford of course denied my buyback... they are notorious for bad customer support in cases like this. Anyway, curious what your service center found as mine still can't figure it out.
No More Issues

To: JustTheFacts,
Currently at 23,200 miles and have no recurring issues. They said at each failure the only fault code was for that one particular part. I find it very strange that since these two failures I am experiencing the "best" mileage I have had consistently. My numbers are 18.5 to 19 and that's inner city and highway. I must admit that I am somewhat hesitant to nail it on occasion. I have had it up to 120 mph and did not want to go any faster although I hear there's a throttle limit to 122 mph. Would like to know if this is really true. If my car had to be towed 5 (five) times I would also pursue a buyback from Ford. Your service center may not be the sharpest tack in the box. Hope you can take it to another dealer. Best of luck. Al
Well JustTheFacts, I pulled out of the driveway this morning (6 am) and went a couple hundred feet and the third strike hit. Completely shut off and would not start. This is the "THIRD" time I have had to have the car flat bedded to the dealer. I am now in very deep conversations with all concerned. Totally not acceptable since if it doesn't give me a heart attack I'll have an accident due to no power steering. My driving includes a lot of high speed driving (50-70 mph) on average. I just got a call from the dealer and was told the fuel pump again and it was only putting out 12-1/2 psi and it should be at approx. 50 psi according to the fault code. I am not at all satisfied with this. Let me know if you get any satisfaction via this link or my email which I will forward.
Just sent you a PM... got mine back today... no definitive issue except loose pins.

Ford offers 10% of your MSRP if you want to trade your car in for a new one. After a fuel pump driver module and TWO (2) fuel pumps I'll get my car back again and keep my fingers crossed it doesn't shut off again this time if I am on the highway. It's really hard steering with no power assist when you are in your seventies. Wishing you the best with your vehicle.
Never received the PM. On my fifth break down.
Sounds like you guys aren't driving yours enough. Maybe there's some issue being caused by the sitting

Those are low mileage numbers
