I just purchased a 2018 Explorer Platinum and would like to stiffen the suspension up.
I believe the Explorer Sport has stiffer suspension.
What can I upgrade to increase the Platinum handling?
Thought about a strut brace, anti roll bars etc......
Thanks in advance

I'm always surprised when one person says "I want to do this, can someone help?" and someone else replies "I wouldn't do that, I like it the way you just said you don't." That sort of reply is completely irrelevant and adds absolutely no value.

You can improve handling with lower profile tires. I haven't looked at the Platinum specs, but it may have taller tires to provide a plusher ride. Lower profile tires have less rubber, are stiffer, and reduce roll when cornering. Which is why race cars use them.

Hope that helps!

I know. Some people, right?
Probably the same guy who drives the speed limit in the express lane.

So, any advice? I have a 2017 XLT, with enough miles it’s ready for shocks (hahahaha) and have been thinking about upgrading the suspension. Oh, and I can afford the upgrade and groceries if anyone is interested. Anyway….. would love to see some feedback. I’ll update things as I go along if you’ll do the same…

I have the 2017 Platinum with only 52000 miles. I am not sure the difference in all the suspensions, but i am upgrading mine. I went with Bilstein B6 struts and shocks. I also wanted to level it. 1st thought was get the front lifted using the kit that attaches to the top of the struts. I decided to get the lowering springs from Steeda. I also got the Steeda rear sway bar, trailing arm and the adjustable toe-link. I am still waiting on the springs to arrive( fedex lost them). Went ahead and purchased all new parts from ford to install the spring on the struts, so i can just R&R the struts. I installed the sway bar and toe link already.Big difference in fast turns. Cant wait to get the Bilsteins installed. Meanwhile i got my new drilled rotors and pads delivered. Guess i will do all at once.
