sync 2 went black

My 2011 explorer limited radio/nav screen went black and will not come back on after a hard reset. My questions are; has anyone had the APIM remanufactured/repaired. Also has anyone DIY pieced together an upgrade to the new sync 3 system, kinda like 4Dtech has a kit with new parts? thanks guys.
