Have a 2018 Explorer XLT and an OVERHEAD DOOR 65A garage door opener. Not sure how old it is. The remote shows "Freq. 380-BBC". Trouble synching to the visor buttons in the Explorer. Is there a limit as to how old the door opener can be? Or am I missing a step? Thanks.

Did you go onto the Ford website? It gives you step by step instructions on how to pair your opener to your garage door opener. I don't think there is a limit on how old the opener is.
When we bought the condo, 2 garage door remotes were given to us; one was a newer replacement and one was the original remote. I had been trying to pair the Explorer with the replacement remote. I then tried the original garage door remote and had success. Not sure why the replacement remote wouldn't pair. Thanks for your help.

Oh ok, I see what you are saying. ( just a thought) on the replacement remote try this. Remove the battery from the remote, then after about 10 minutes replace the battery and then go to the garage opener and pair it with the opener and make sure it works. Then try pairing with the explorer, hopefully that should work. Hope this helps.

I had a bad visor when I bought mine new, the dealer replaced it and since I've paired 4 different openers. Be sure you reset the visor by the book. Try to program the opener by holding the remote to the visor by the book. If that doesn't work you will have to do it by old school, put the opener in learn and program the visor that way. My latest is a new 2022 Liftmaster MyQ and I had to do it old school. I had to put the opener in learn and hold the visor button until it flashed rapidly.
Hope this helps.
