Whining Noise and Leak - Flywheel/Trans Bellhousing
Hey everyone, 2007 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0L V6 194K miles.
I have a whining noise coming from where the flywheel and transmission bellhousing mate. It's leaking in that area as well. My first thought is a bearing, and maybe the main rear seal is shot.
I'm looking for any advice on what to check. I am going to do some transmission work this weekend and it'll be up on a lift, so that'll be when I can access the undercarriage. I attached a video of the noise.
